WE LIKE ARCHIVES

With their sights set on their feet and the sky simultaneously, Archives’ music makes one hell of an impression on the ears. Taking the loud/quiet structure explored by great acts like Cap’n Jazz before them and driving it into new directions, Archives make you want to shuffle. They are full of beautiful little contradictions: they are brash yet slick, confident yet fragile. You get the contradictory picture. They often sound like they are playing three different songs, but their sound wraps around itself to form an exhilarating sound that can sometimes be difficult to keep up with. But part of the fun is trying to keep up with the twitching guitars, the impatient drum patterns and the spluttering, hollering vocals of lead singer Lee Francis. Believe it or not, but they hail from the quiet town of Northampton. You’ll soon hear though, that it isn’t big enough for them. These young whipper-snappers want to make you dance and think at the same time. Why not let them?

QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION:

Are they romantic mix tape material?
YES. Their emotional grasp is one that anyone would want to grasp.

Are they party playlist material?
YES. Their anthem “Youths” is full on pedal to the medal.

Should you go and tell your friends?
YES. Then you can all think up trendy dances to bust out at an Archives gig.
